PROJECT OVERVIEW:

Portsmouth Public Schools implemented Accelify’s AcceliCLAIM Medicaid billing system during the 2013-2014 school year. Portsmouth documents services provided to special education students using its IEP system and sends these services and the related Medicaid validation files to Accelify to prepare and submit the district’s Fee for Service Medicaid claims. When the project began, Accelify discovered that the prior Medicaid billing vendor had not submitted claims for thousands of services from the 2012-2013 school year with timely filing for those services only three weeks away. Within two weeks, Accelify was able to gather all service and validation data and setup the necessary trading partner agreement with the state to bill for those services. In addition, the IEP system in place was not set up to properly capture all the necessary data to submit compliant claims (parental consent, provider licensure information, plans of care, etc.). Accelify worked directly with the district’s IEP and service tracking vendor to modify their system to ensure all services were documented in compliance with Medicaid regulations.

RESULTS:

Accelify’s work for Portsmouth Public Schools resulted in significant retroactive Medicaid claims that would have been otherwise lost and hundreds of thousands in total Medicaid reimbursements since the project began in the 2013-2014 School Year. Due to the success of the project and the expert consulting services provided by Accelify’s project staff, Portsmouth recently contracted with Accelify to provide Cost Reporting consulting services.
