PROJECT OVERVIEW:

Broward County Public Schools implemented Accelify’s AcceliROUTE transportation management system to track ridership on their special education bus routes for Medicaid billing during the 2011-2012 school year. After experiencing a 500% increase in transportation Medicaid reimbursements Broward decided to implement the system districtwide to simplify the process of tracking ridership for their quarterly state transportation survey. Each survey week, AcceliROUTE imports bus routes and student route assignments and then prints scannable bus logs. By printing logs that are accurate for each of the morning and afternoon runs, the system makes it much easier for drivers to accurately track ridership. Once drivers complete the log it is scanned back into the AcceliROUTE system for automatic data processing. The system then provides an exportable report with information required for the state report.

RESULTS:

AcceliROUTE produced substantial time and cost savings for Broward. The system reduced printing by 66% and printing time by over 80%. The system also dramatically reduced the time it takes to capture student bus attendance and lightened the workload for staff responsible for managing the state survey – Broward went from 14 staff members to only 4 staff members using AcceliROUTE – AN 88% COST SAVINGS!
